Mount Carmel needed to communicate their culture and philosophy to the audiences most key to their growth: patients and employees.
Mount Carmel Health Systems faced growing competition in the healthcare industry for the recruitment and retention of nurses. Turnover numbers had become problematic and Mount Carmel needed a solution to communicate with potential employees as well as current ones to encourage and instill a company commitment. They also needed to present career opportunities and openings in a more immediate manner.
Mount Carmel partnered with Interactive Ink who strategically developed and aligned the hospital's website and intranet. The focus was on the principles of the hospital and its employees.
Part I: Interactive Ink implemented a more audience focused navigation while highlighting Mount Carmel's most important principles at the top of the page.
Interactive Ink developed the functionality for an online job search and email notification system promoting job availability at Mount Carmel. The hospital can post job openings to the public and they are searchable via the job search page. Permission based marketing was implemented to inform those interested in jobs with Mount Carmel of recent openings that match the users search criteria, increasing the number of resumes received.
Part II: Once Mount Carmel attained valuable employees, they wanted to keep them. A cultural initiative was launched promoting the leadership philosophy of being yourself and the giving of yourself to others, called Higher Ground. Everyday, the site opens with a different inspirational picture and quote than the day before. The site focuses on employees through stories of the week, guiding principles and leadership profiles.
The fusion of the new website with the web-based recruiting and intranet system drastically decreased nurse turnover. The Mount Carmel Health Systems intranet received rave reviews and is now available to the general public.
